Bestamak is the name of one of the picturesque canyons in the Charyn National Park, in which the architectural form of natural formations has been preserved, which can only be seen in Charyn and in the Bestamak Canyon. The Bestamak Canyon is a small copy of the Charyn Canyon; in rainy times, a stream can form in the canyon, which then flows down the canyon into the Charyn River.

The canyon is located between the left bank of the Temirlik River and the eastern slopes of the Katu Mountains located on the right bank of the Charyn River. The canyon is a natural channel for rainfall, the canyon meanders through eroding rocks and connects with the right side of the main canyon of the Charyn River.

By eroding sedimentary rocks, the river deepens the canyon, and wind and precipitation form its bizarre shapes. Bestamak is translated as “five isthmuses”. Along its entire length, Bestamak changes its appearance several times: classic Charyn views alternate with narrow passages — real stone sarcophagi.
