The open sky regime has been extended until the end of 2027

It removes restrictions on the number of flights and gives foreign airlines the fifth degree of «freedom of airspace»

«In pursuance of the instructions of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan to expand the geography of flights and increase the number of international flights, the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan extended the «open skies» regime until the end of 2027,» the message reads.

Thus, this regime provides for the lifting of all restrictions on the number of flights and granting foreign airlines the fifth degree of «freedom of air traffic» on routes where Kazakh airlines do not operate.

The «open skies» regime operated at 12 international airports in Astana, Almaty, Taraz, Shymkent, Aktau, Semey, Karaganda, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Pavlodar, Petropavlovsk, Kokshetau and Turkestan. As a result of joint work with the Akimat of Aktobe region, this regime was also introduced at Aktobe International Airport named after Aliya Moldagulova for the development of the region.

This regime helps to attract new foreign carriers, develop competition between air carriers, open international routes, reduce the cost of air tickets, develop tourism and increase transport accessibility of cities in Kazakhstan, the KSA stressed.
